The following is a visual timeline representation of events occurring since the selection and certification of Shreveport Police Chief Ben Raymond.

"Mr. Chairman, as you know I held a press conference today to name my appointment for the position of the Police Chief. I would like to ask the council to place my selection for Police Chief on the agenda and consider suspending the rules to allow for a vote to be taken this week to name the Chief. This would allow us to put behind us all the consternation surrounding this process, and move forward to strengthen our police department, and work toward bridging the divide in our community. Sept 23, 2019 Mayor Perkins requests City Council add selection of Chief to the agenda and selects Ben Raymond. Raymond was not one of three candidates selected by committee.

Sept 24, 2019 City Council unanimously confirms executive appointment of Ben Raymond as Chief of Police.

Jan 24, 2020 Eight officers on Area 1/Shift C allegedly use excessive force on suspects Bell, Robinson, who surrendered with hands up.

Mar 3, 2020 Chief Raymond recognizes Area 1/Shift C officers with a commendation during his annual awards dinner.

Apr 5, 2020 Tommie McGlothen dies while in police custody. Date of (alleged, no supporting police data) Mayor Perkins' DUI/traffic stop.

Apr 14, 2020 Chief Administrative Officer Whitehorn confirmed by 4-3 vote of Council.

Apr 15, 2020 Mayor Perkins requests Civil Service certify Chief Raymond. Perkins never informs Council of his request.

Apr 19, 2020 Wavey Austin dies after an encounter with police responding to a welfare concern.

May 27, 2020 Chief Raymond informs Councilwoman Fuller of two in-custody deaths after she requests such information. Claims there is no record-keeping for "'in-custody' deaths".
